The Pretenders (Players) Championship will be played on May 2nd, 2021 at Ledges Golf Course.
The Pretenders is worth 630 points with 60 points being awarded for first place and 3 points for last place. Surprisingly, Sunday's high temperature will be 70 with only an 18% chance of rain.
Bryan, as the 2020 (and 2019) Pretenders Champion, will lead us off the first tee.

Past Winners are:
2017 - Jake
2018 - Chris
2019 - Bryan
2020 - Bryan
Cody is pretending to be John Rahm. Rahm was the number one golf in 2020, just like Cody, but Rahm has quickly fallen to number 3. Cody has fallen to 6th on our current Leaderboard but I have faith that he has a couple of 70s scores left in him.

Dave is pretending to be Brooks Koepka. Both Koepka and Dave had a great year in 2019 but Koepka is 11th in 2021 and Dave is currently sitting just in front of cutline at 12th.

Bryan is pretending to be Charl Schwartzel because even when Schwartzel wins, he still misses the playoffs just like Bryan has done over the last 3 years. Maybe this year will be different for both of them.

Jake is pretending to be Dustin Johnson. Johnson can usually be counted on to win at least one event a year and Jake has done just that over the last 3 years.

Tim is pretending to be Larry Nelson. Nelson is the greatest golfer that no one knew, just like Tim, except we don’t know how great Tim is going to be… yet.

Harry is pretending to be Anthony Kim. Kim walked away from golf due to injuries but Harry just vanished like a magic trick after winning the 2021 BJG FedUp Cup.

Joe T is pretending to be Rory Mcllroy. Mcllroy began last season with six straight top-five finishes. Joe T did the same thing in 2020 to win the Race to Big Y (Dubai). Joe T will have a tough time repeating that victory as he sits at 13th.

Rey is pretending to be Alex Rodriquez. Rodriquez is a baseball player who can also play golf. Rey can almost do both.

Chris is pretending to be Rickie Fowler. Fowler, like Chris, made a significant equipment change this year but, unlike Ricky, Chris has chosen to go fishing instead of practicing.

Rock is pretending to be Stewart Clink. Clink is currently in 5th place on the PGA’s FedEx Cup points list. Rock had a tough round at the Chubby but he is still sitting at the 5th spot in BJG.

Juan is pretending to be Orville Moody. Moody was probably the worst golfer to win a major. Kind of like Juan when he came out of nowhere to win the 2020 BJG Championship. Moody did become a great senior tour player so there is always that…

Dan is pretending to be Charles Barkley. Do you know what the difference is between Dan’s swing and Barkley’s swing? Barkley was able to fix his swing. Dan is still double clutching like he’s driving a Semi.
Adam is pretending to be Max Homa. Homa was right in the middle of the PGA money list in 2020. Unlike Homa, Adam is taking full advantage of his handicap, and playing great golf. Adam is currently 2nd on the Leaderboard.

Dustin is pretending to Connor Murphy. Murphy shot a shocking 108 at a Korn Ferry Qualifier. Dustin may have come in last place at the Chubby but he did walk away with 11 points.

Matt T is pretending to be Casey Martin. Martin played golf from 1998 to 2006. He then returned to golf in 2012 after taking 6 years off. Matt T also walked away from BJG in 2017 only to finally return to the fold in 2021. He has only played one round so I’m hoping we already collected his BJG fee.

Nic is pretending to be Jordan Spieth. Spieth like Nic finished in the top 5 for the 2020 Masters / Misters. Hopefully, Nic can keep playing well with his new handicap.

Matt is pretending to be Bryson DeChambeau. DeChambeau took advantage of the shortened 2020 COVID-19 season to re-create himself into a much better golfer. Matt has changed his life in much the same way and is currently at the top of the leaderboard. His handicap isn't hurting him either.

Jon is pretending to be Hideki Matsuyama. Matsuyama has not won since 2017 but that all changed when he won the 2021 Master. Jon had never won a BJG event, that is until he won the 2021 Mister by taking lessons, practicing and getting a decent handicap. And then Jon took the next week off…. Of course Jon could be pretending to be the "new" Orville Moody.

EJ’s is pretending to be Michael Visacki. Mini-tour legend Michael Visacki has finally made it to his first PGA event after grinding it out over the last 8 years. EJ has about a total of 8 minutes playing golf but he has been practicing at least one day a week so far. EJ’s greatest accomplishment to date is that he did not finish last at the Chubby.

And Joe will once again pretend to be the man with the same style and flair as his own.

Respectfully,
Broken Joe
