The 2021 Time Travelers Championship

The Travelers Championship is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour in Cromwell, Connecticut, a suburb south of Hartford. Since 1984 the tournament has been held at TPC River Highlands. It is managed by The Greater Hartford Community Foundation. In 2018 the Travelers Championship earned the Players Choice Award for the second consecutive year, which is voted on by PGA Tour members for its services, hospitality, attendance and quality of the course.

More importantly, this the only PGA event in New England, which does make it kind of special for us here in Massachusetts.

Of course, Broken Joe Golf’s version is just a little bit off, and that would mean that we will be playing the “Time Travelers Championship”.

I initial had wanted to play this tournament in CT but since we set up the schedule to have “practice” rounds at our Major golf courses, we are playing at Veterans. The good news is that the sand traps now have actual sand.

The 2021 Time Travelers will be played on 7/11/21 at Veterans Memorial Golf Course at 1059 S Branch Pkwy, Springfield, MA 01118.

Because this is a regular round, groups are picked randomly. There are a total of 210 points up for grabs with 20 points for first place points and 1 point for last place.

As I had said in the last blog post, it is time to lower Matty Ice's and Tin Man's (Jon) handicap. They have both been playing great golf this year and while it may be too late to truly effect the "Race to Big Y (Dubai) , at least (hopefully) they will no longer be scoring in the 80s. Matt's new handicap is 13 and Jon new handicap is 16. These handicaps should bring them back to our "95" average.
