The 2022 Rider Cup

The Rider Cup is a Team event and is played in a scramble golf format.

The two Golfers that finished last for the 2022 BJG season, are honored as the Captains for the 2022 Rider Cup.

In 2018, Team Adam (Adam, Rock, and Bryan) was victorious over Team Jon and Team Dan

In 2020, Team Matt (Matt, Dave, Bryan, Rey, Joe, Juan, Adam & Nic) defeated Team Jon

Surprisingly, this year’s last-place Golfers are Rey and Rock.

No one has seen Rey since Aug 14h at the “American Freedom Open” which will be 77 days by the time we get to the Rider Cup.

Rock's last event was the “BJG Championship on Sept 11th, which will be 49 days since we had last seen Rock.

The first thing that must happen is the Captains need to pick their teams. Rey, Rock, and I met on Thursday, Oct 20th at Paddy's to do just that.

I sent a blog post out on Wednesday, Oct 19th asking people to let me know if they WERE NOT playing in the Rider Cup. Joe T and Juan texted saying they had other plans. Joe T will be watching the Jets take on the Pats, and Juan is going on vacation… again.

If my math is correct, we will have 12 Golfers, two teams of six golfers. That means we will have a 2 man and a 4-man scramble (2 vs 2 & 4 vs 4)

This year I decided that the winner of a thumb wrestling match would have the first pick. The loser would get the next two picks, and choose the golf course. Rey wins the match and has the first pick.

With the FIRST pick of the 2022 Rider Cup, Rey chooses CODY

With the Second and Third picks of the 2022 Rider Cup, Rock chooses JOE and DAN.

With the Fourth pick of the 2022 Rider Cup, Rey chooses JASON.

With the Fifth pick of the 2022 Rider Cup, Rock chooses BRYAN.

With the Sixth pick of the 2022 Rider Cup, Rey chooses JAKE.

With the Seventh pick of the 2022 Rider Cup, Rock chooses ADAM.

With the Eight picks of the 2022 Rider Cup, Rey chooses DUSTIN.

With the Ninth pick of the 2022 Rider Cup, Rock chooses ALEX

With the Last pick of the 2022 Rider Cup, Rey chooses EJ.

Rock chooses Cold Springs CC as the golf course to host the 2022 Rider Cup.

However, when we found out it was $57.00 and no bar, we had to find another golf course. I looked at St Annes, but the earliest I could get a tee time was 10:40 and that wasn't going to work. I called Franconia but they had a 2 man scramble.

I finally got Veterans Golf Course to say yes. They are having a 9am shotgun start so be there no later than 8:30.

On Tuesday, Adam informed me that he would n ot be able to play on Sunday. You know that call had to be hard for Adam. I think Adam has only missed 2 games in 3 years.

Match One: Team Rey: Jason & Dustin VS Team Rock: Joe & Adam (Out)

Match Two: Team Rey: Rey, Cody, Jake, and EJ VS Team Rock: Rock, Dan, Bryan, and Alex

2022 Rider Cup Groups and Tee Times

Group One – 9:00

Cart 1: Jason & Dustin

VS

Cart 2: Joe & Adam (Out)

Group Two – 9:00

Cart 3 & 4: Rey, Cody, Jake, and EJ

Group Three - 9:00

Cart 5 & 6: Rock, Dan, Bryan, and Alex

With Adam out, Rock will have to fill that spot with some one in the other group.

If there is a tie at the end of the day, the Captains will compete in a Putt Off.
