The 2024 BJG Championship

We have come to the final regular-season match-up and our Final Major of the year, the 2024 Broken Joe Golf (BJG) Championship.

The BJG Championship will be played at Cold Springs Country Club, 336 Chauncey Walker St, Belchertown, MA, on August 25, 2024.  The greens fee with a cart is $62.00

It has been a long time since BJG played at Cold Springs (2015).  The course is very hilly, with lots of elevation changes.  This course also has a lot of doglegs and sand traps guarding the greens.  The rough is deep and thick.  There are three Par 3s and three Par 5s on the front nine.  Think of a very nice Mill Valley, and you will start to understand what you are up against.

The BJG Championship is worth 455 total points, 65 points for first place and 5 points for last place.

A lot is going on at the BJG Championship.

1. Will we identify the winner of our final Major, the BJG Champion ($60)

2. We will award the “Big Check” to our Race to Big Y (Dubai) Champion (Regular Season Winner) and the $50 Big Y Gift Card

3. We will have the seeding for the first round of the Fed Up Cup, and we will know who has a first-round bye.

4.  We will have our first Golfer cut from the Fed Up Cup Playoffs.

5. We will identify our two Rider Cup Captains

This is what we know so far:

1.      Rey and Matt WILL have a first-round bye, and ONE of them will be the Regular Season Champion.  

2.      Mike, Joe, EJ, Joe T, and Rob each have a chance to secure the third and fourth spots and a first-round bye. Just 22.5 Points separate third and seventh Place.

3.      With James not playing in this Major, Joe V and JT have a chance to make it to the first round of the playoffs.

4.      James, Joe V, or JT will be going straight to the Legends of Tomorrow

5.      James, Joe V, or JT will be the 2024 BJG Rider Cup Captains.

As for all Majors, Groupings are done by the Leaderboard.

Group One – 8:10 am

Cart 1: Matt (18) & Rey (22)

Cart 2: Mike (10) & Joe (25)

Group Two – 8:20 am

Cart 3: EJ (36) & Joe T (24)

Cart 4: Rob (18) & Dustin (36)

Group Three – 8:30 am

Cart 5: Steve (21) & Adam (8)

Cart 6: JT (11) & Joe V (4)

The only hole with real water is the third hole, so we will have a BJG Drop Zone there.

The Closets to the Pins are the 85 Yard, Par 3, 3rd Hole, and the 115 Yard, Par 3, 15th Hole.
