Joe had been a legend in his own mind since 2018 when he won two Majors, the first round of the Fed Up Cup and the Winter Classic Championship but 2019 was a very different story. Joe could not win anything with his new driver (a driver that he didn’t need). In fact, for the first time, ever, Joe was booted from the Fed Up Cup Championship final round. For Joe, even with its trials and tribulations, 2020 offers a little glimmer of hope as he wins the distinctive green jacket along with the Mister’s trophy. Is Joe really back? Only time will tell.

Front Nine Sores:
Joe – 44
Cody - 46
Dave - 47
Harry – 48
Joe Willie – 48
Bryan – 49
Rock - 49
Adam - 50
Chris - 50
Jake – 50
Rey – 51
Steve – 52
Juan – 60
Dan – 61
Jon - 64
Nic - 66
Matt - 72
Joe takes a little lead heading into the back nine but eleven other golfers are right there just waiting for him to stumble.
Back Nine:
Bryan - 45
Dave - 46
Jake - 46
Cody - 47
Joe Willie – 48
Harry - 50
Joe - 50
Steve – 50
Rock - 51
Chris - 52
Dan - 52
Rey - 53
Jon - 57
Adam - 62
Matt – 62
Juan – 64
Nic - 72
Group One picks up the pace and they have the top four “low scores” on the back nine. Unfortunately, they are all adding strokes to their final scores so it might be too little, too late. Joe Willie shoots the same score as the front (48). Harry continues to hold his own during his first competition and Joe falls off his pace but still manages to hold off the competition to win by one stroke.

Joe Willie has really taken advantage of the social distancing and the fact that Sophie’s is closed. He scored a 96 during each round at Rolling Meadows. Joe Willie is playing like it’s 1999, I mean 2017.

Bryan is handling his new handicap pretty well with his 3rd place finish.

Harry joins BJG late but still makes a huge impact in his first competition by coming in 4th which probably means someone is not going to make it to the Fed Up Cup that normally would have. To add insult to injury, he is also 7th in the 2020 Race to Big Y (Dubai) points.

Steve has started the season out well and earned himself a top 5 finish with Jake.

Dave and Cody are feeling the weight of their BJG handicap but don’t feel bad for them. Dave won a couple of Majors and the Race to Big Y (Dubai) check last year and Cody shot a 76 at Franconia last week. I promise you, they will not be throwing in the towel that easily.

Rey and Rock continue to crush their driver but they too are feeling the pressure of their new zero handicaps.

I’m guessing that Chris, who usually starts the season fast, is changing things up and has decided to make a run closer to the end of the regular season. Adam seems ok with that plan as he ties Chris for 9th place.

Dan, happy with bringing his son the Pan AM: AM, AM, AM & AM trophy, had some issues on the front nine.

Matt scores par on the front nine (72) with Nic doing the same on the back nine.

Juan may need to have his handicap re-evaluated (just saying).

Remember, if you aren’t winning, you will need to “play better golf” to be one of the top 12 golfers to move on to the first round of the Fed Up Cup.
On a happier note, Cody has received his “2019 Rookie of the Year” award. Congratulations to Cody.

Next on the schedule is “The Pretenders” (The Players) on June 14th at Agawam Municipal Golf Course. Who are you "pretending" to be?
Respectfully,
Broken Joe
Commissioner
