On May 31st, 2020, we will have our first Major, "The Misters" (Masters). We will be playing again at Rolling Meadows County Club in Ellington, CT.
The winner of "The Misters" wins a prestigious green (wind /rain) jacket and a trophy. Bryan won in 2018 and Dave won in 2019.

While it is true that we lost a BJG member (thanks Joe Willie), we have increased our membership with the addition of Juan and Harry (thanks Rey). We now have a competition for the 2020 BJG Rookie of the Year and 17 members. Welcome Harry.
Initially, no one knew what to expect at Rolling Meadows or what affect COVID-19 would have on how we now play golf. I think we did a pretty good job anticipating some rule adjustments but after actually playing a round of golf, we just need to tighten them up a bit more.
1. We will stay with the putter length rule but please make sure you measure before you pick up. Looks can sometimes be deceiving.
2. When actually putting into the cup, the ball must stay in the cup. I know, “if the noodle wasn’t in there it would have dropped” but the noodle is in the cup, you know that and now you need to putt better. This will make the rule less subject to “interpretation”. It is either stayed in the cup or it didn’t.
3. Remember, when you are dropping the lost ball, it’s from where it went out of bounds or went in the woods/trees/vegetation, not where it landed. This happened to me, I saw where the ball landed and I had every intention of playing it but as I was going to that spot I realized that there was no way for me to get to that area because of the low, thick vegetation. I was taking the 2 strokes for the lost ball and started to drop where the ball landed instead of where it went into the vegetation. I was fortunate to have a fellow golfer help me with that reminder.
4. There are still alot of leaves on the ground inside the tree line. Finding a ball in there is going to be tough unless your name is Rey. If you are going to search for your ball, remember these tips:
Drive to the spot where the ball went into the trees/vegetation and park the cart.
Set your timer for 3 minutes.
Get out of your cart and walk around looking for your lost ball
Once the timer goes off, get back in your cart and drive to the fairway and drop your ball 2 club lengths onto the fairway.
Count the 2 strokes for stroke and distance.

Since this is a major, there will be some serious “Race to Big Y” (Race to Dubai) points to be had:
1st Place = 51 points
2nd Place = 48 points
3rd Place = 45 points
4th Place = 42 points
5th Place = 39 points
6th Place = 36 points
7th Place = 33 points
8th Place = 30 points
9th Place = 27 points
10th Place = 24 points
11th Place = 21 points
12th Place = 18 points
13th Place = 15 points
14th Place = 12 points
15th Place = 9 points
16th Place = 6 points
17th Place = 3 points
With such a short regular season, you don’t want to get behind the eightball early. With that said, if you can’t win, you want to at least be in the top 12 in order to be part of the first round of the Fed Up Cup.
Respectfully
