On April 21st, 2024. we will play our version of “The Players Championship,” which we call The Pretenders Championship.
The Pretenders Championship will be played at St Annes Country Club, 781 Shoemaker Lane, Feeding Hills, MA. 01030
Past Pretenders Champions are:
2017 - Jake
2018 - Chris
2019 - Bryan
2020 – Bryan
2021 – Tim
2022 – Joe
2023 - Dustin
The Pretenders is worth a total of 182 points. First place will receive 26 points, and last place will receive 2 points.
Usually, I would choose who we are "pretending" to be, but with so many new members, I thought I would leave that for each of you to decide. Last year, we "pretended" to be Superheroes, which was funny.
WEATHER: Right now, the forecast calls for a low temperature of 40 degrees and a high of 59 degrees, with a 1% chance of rain. Winds will be WNW at 11 MPH.
It looks like rain on Saturday, so there will be a few wet spots at St Anne's on Sunday. Yellow tape will be on some of the fairways, meaning NO CARTS instead of the usual "Ground Under Repair."
Groups and Tee Times:
As last year's Champion, Dustin, will lead us off the first tee box.
The first two tee times are under the name Joe Tighe. The next two times are under the name Eugene Carabine.
Group One - 10:13
Cart 1: Dustin (36)
Cart 2: Rey (22) & Joe V (4)
Group Two - 10:21
Cart 3: James (15)
Cart 4: Joe (24) & Adam (8)
Group Three - 10:30
Cart 5: EJ (36) & Mike (10)
Cart 6: JT (11) & Stephen (21)
Group Four - 10:36
Cart 7: Joe T (25) & Matt T (Guest)
Cart 8: Matt (18) & Rob (18)
The Closest To The Pins will be on the 3rd hole, a Par 3 at 138 yards long, and on the 11th hole, a Par 3 at 130 yards long.
There is a pond on the 15th hole. Remember, once you put TWO balls in the water, you can move to the BJG Drop Zones, marked with a White Flag.
Group One will drop the BJG equipment, and Group Four will pick it up and give it to Joe T.
Please reread the rules. Mark your balls. Only two off the Tee, no going backward, and a Lost Ball dropped on the Fairway is a Two-Stroke Penalty. Please stay with the group in front of you. Please ask if you have any questions.
I will pretend to be "Joe Daly," John Daly's older, fatter Stepbrother from Chicago, who works for the government and is here to help.
And don't forget to have some fun.
I think this Sunday, breakfast will be at St Anne's kitchen around 9 am.
Respectfully,
Broken Joe
Commissioner
