The Pretenders was a great day as far as the weather was concerned, and it was about time. Plus, we had 19 out of 20 golfers participating, and you could really see why it took us an hour to get everyone off the first tee box.

Tim was pretending to be Larry Nelson, the greatest golfer that no one knew. But at the end of the day, Tim ended up pretending to Justin Thomas. Justin won the 2021 Player while Tim won the 2021 Pretenders. I guess we know Tim’s name now. Tim is also making his way toward the "2021 BJG Rookie of the Year". Dustin and EJ better step up.

Joe pretended to be the man with the same style and flair as his own, John Daly. On Sunday, May 2nd, Daly came in 2nd place on the Champions Tour ”Insperity Invitational” while Joe took 2nd place honors at this year’s Pretends.

ree

Dave was pretending to be Brooks Koepka because they both had a great year in 2019 but not so great in 2021, while next Nic was pretending to be Jordan Spieth because of their top finishes in the 2021 Masters / Misters. Now, Dave is pretending to be Brian Harman, and Nic is pretending to be the real Bryson DeChambeau. Harman and DeChambeau finished tied for 3rd at the Players while Dave and Nic tied for 3rd at the Pretenders.

Bryan was pretending to be Charl Schwartzel because even when they win, they still miss the playoffs. Jon was pretending to be Hideki Matsuyama because of their 2021 Masters / Misters wins. Juan was pretending to be Orville Moody because Orville was the worst golfer to win a major. It turns out Bryan was pretending to be Jon Rahm, Jon was pretending to be Matthew Fitzpatrick, and Juan was pretending to be Viktor Hovland. Rahm, Fitzpatrick, and Hovland all tied for 5th place at the 2021 Genesis Open. Bryan, Jon, and Juan all tied for 5th at the 2021 Pretenders. I probably owe Juan an apology…

Dan was pretending to be Charles Barkley because of the way they both swing the golf club. Jake was pretending to be Dustin Johnson because they both usually win one event a year. Joe T was pretending to be Rory Mcllroy because they both had a lot of top-five finishes in 2020. Dan is now pretending to be Max McGreavy, Jake is pretending to be Kevin Dougherty, and Joe T is pretending to be Josh Hart. McGreavy, Dougherty, and Hart all play on the Korn Ferry Tour, and they all finished tied for 10th at the Emerald Coast Classic. Dan, Jake, and Joe T all finished tied for 10th at the Pretenders.

Adam was pretending to be Max Homa, Rock was pretending to be Stewart Clink, and Harry was pretending to be Anthony Kim. As it turns out Adam is pretending to be Chris Cosby, Rock is pretending to be Andy Butler, and Harry is pretending to be Dan Labonte. Cosby, Butler, and Labonte are currently 13th, 14th, and 15th on the Mediocre Golf Association’s (MGA) Global Money List. Adam, Rock, and Harry finished 13, 14, and 15 at the Pretenders. By the way, it looks like Springfield is getting a “Chapter” in the MGA (Hint, Hint).

ree

Dustin was pretending to Connor Murphy. Murphy shot a shocking 108 at a Korn Ferry Qualifier. Dustin shot a 109, so he isn’t even as good as Murphy. Dustin finished 16th at the Pretenders.

ree

EJ’s was pretending to be Michael Visacki. In fact, EJ is still pretending to be Visacki, crying tears of joy since he finished 17th, but once again, he was not last.

ree

Chris was pretending to be Rickie Fowler. Fowler, like Chris, made a significant equipment change this year but, Chris was actually pretending to be Brad Lebo. Lebo finished next to last at the Lloyd Wood Memorial Tournament in Charlottesville, VA on the Professional Putter Association. Chris finished next to last at the Pretenders. Fun fact - the 2021 Putt-Putt National Championship on Sept 20-24 in Richmond, VA.

ree

Matt T was pretending to be Casey Martin. Martin played golf from 1998 to 2006. He then returned to golf in 2012 after taking 6 years off. Matt T also walked away from BJG in 2017, only to finally return to the fold in 2021. Matt T was actually pretending to be Angelo Spanonlo. In 1985, Spagnolo was named the “Worst Avid Golfer”. after shooting a 66 on the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass. In 2021, Matt T was the worst golfer at the Pretenders.

Cody was a DNP because he had his daughter’s first communion. Family should always come first.
