Team Mediocre Wild Card Match Up
Talk about having the perfect name. This Wild Card match-up was supposed to be between Dan and Juan.
I spoke to Dan on Wednesday as we conducted some BJG business, and I asked Dan if he was playing on Sunday. I had heard a rumor that Dan was not going to play, but Dan said yes, he believed he would be playing.
Saturday night rolls around, and Dan texts me that the Boyle Golf Tournament that his father-in-law puts together every year is on Sunday, and that he will not make the BJG round. We need to get Dan a better calendar.
Like Jake, Juan just needs to complete the round to move on to the 2nd round. Juan missed half of the regular season and is now in the 2nd round of the Playoffs? Something is very wrong with this group.
Juan completes the round with a 99, and he is moving on.
Dumpster Fire Wild Card Match Up

We knew this would be the match-up once Jon stopped playing after the Chubby Classic. That would mean the last 8 weeks of the regular season would be practice until Alex and EJ would meet for real on Wild Card Sunday.
Over those 8 rounds, EJ would claim victory over Alex in 7 of those tournaments. For those people that were watching, it would seem that EJ was the favorite going into Wild Card Sunday, especially with EJ coming up with victory as the 2022 BJG Champion with his lowest score of the year (102).
Front Nine:
After the first 3 holes, EJ is up by 4, but over the next 3 holes, Alex squares the score up at 39.
Alex gains a stroke over EJ on holes 7 and 8, giving Alex a 2-stoke lead. On the 9th hole, they each get a 6.
Front Nine Scores
Alex - 54
EJ - 56
Back Nine:
EJ manages to tie the score after the 12th hole, but by the 15th hole, Alex is playing “better” golf, and EJ is down by 5 strokes. EJ makes a strong comeback on the 16th and 17th holes.
As Alex and EJ are standing on the 18th hole tee box, Alex is up by one stroke. The stakes are high, but not as high as the stress going into the final hole.
On the 18th green, Alex finishes his putt for 6. EJ is standing over his putt for 5, which will force a putt off. It is a makeable putt, but not today. EJ has to tap in for 6.
Back Nine Scores
EJ – 53
Alex – 56
Final Score
Alex – 108
EJ – 109
This was another great battle, with Alex not only claiming victory over EJ, but also as the First Round Champion and Alex’s first trophy.

We had some GREAT competition on Sunday, and I hope it continues for the 2nd Round of the Playoffs as well as the “Legends of Tomorrow” on October 2nd, 2022.
Again, congratulations to Joe T, Race to Big Y (Dubai) winner, and to Jake, Jason, Juan, and Alex for their Wild Card wins.
Respectfully,
Broken Joe
